KARACHI: Pakistan cricket is never short of controversies as another one was unveiled on Thursday when two cricketers were warned by the Pakistan Cricket Board for using Twitter.
As per the new Central Contract, players are not allowed to use any of the social networking websites during team tours.
Left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz and right-hand top-order batsman Asad Shafiq were the two players who logged into their Twitter accounts which irked not only the team management but also the PCB officials back home.
Media Manager of the PCB, Nadeem Sarwar, while talking with The Sports Encounter on Thursday said that one of the players had posted some pictures of the cricket team travelling in the bus which were removed later.
He said that the cricket board has strictly rebuked Asad Shafiq and Wahab Riaz and mentioned that breach of the central contract wouldn’t be tolerated.
He went on to say that the players have got the benefits of the doubt as it was their first offence but in case such an offence is repeated then they will have to face hefty fines as well as suspension.
