KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation Iftikhar Tarrar said on Wednesday that available evidence about the attacks on the two Pakistan Navy (PN) buses in Karachi on Tuesday had been sent to a Islamabad laboratory for forensic examination, however, investigators of various agencies believed that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was behind these attacks.
The DIG also pointed out that terrorist organisations had joined hands and started activities to sabotage peace in the city.
The DIG also pointed out that terrorist organisations had joined hands and started activities to sabotage peace in the city.
Sources said intelligence agencies had sent a report to the interior ministry and advised it to enhance the close-circuit cameras network across the city, especially in the surroundings of the sensitive installations. The report also sought the merger of law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
It may be noted that the City District Government Karachi’s Command and Control Room covers the activities of most of the areas of the city through cameras. The LEAs on the available information have, however, picked up a number of suspects and also started interrogating them. Intelligentsia believes that elements of various terrorist organisations, including banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Jundullah had joined hands and resumed their activities in Karachi. The intelligence agencies have feared more attacks in near future in the city.
